RSA launches simulator to show drivers how it feels as a cyclist on the road

RSA's Interactive Shuttle Service

The Road Safety Authority has launched a free interactive simulator that allows drivers experience how it feels as a cyclist and motorcyclist on the road.

"Our interactive shuttle is packed with virtual experiences to teach road safety in an engaging way!" according to the Road Safety Authority [RSA]

The free service allows users to experience car, motorbike and bicycles simulators to have a better understanding of all road users and emphasize road safety for all. It is part of a wider safety campaign aimed at keeping all road users safe.

According to An Garda Siochana,  "as a cyclist, you are one of the most vulnerable road users and all cyclists must take personal responsibility for their and others safety while out on the roads".

Users can experience first-hand the dangers of driving and texting and driver fatigue. They can also try the brake reaction timer to see how driving environment and speed affect braking distances.

The service also provides information on tyre safety as "tyres are your only contact with the road," according to their website.

The service is perfect for schools, colleges and companies to raise awareness on road safety and the dangers of the road.
