Wine and beer worth €1million seized by Revenue

Since the beginning of November Revenue officers seized 207,369 litres of alcohol, with an estimated value of €1,094,751, at Dublin Port.

The illicit alcohol consisted of approximately 174,744 litres of beer and represented a loss to the Exchequer of almost €326,334.

It also consisted of approximately 32,625 litres of wine and represented a loss to the Exchequer of €212,976.

The consignment was seized when Revenue officers stopped and searched 9 containers that arrived from Rotterdam,  as a result of risk profiling.

Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
