Gardaí and rescuers rush to Irish mountain as two people go missing

Gardaí and Civil Defence volunteers successfully located and helped two walkers who got lost in the Slieve Bloom Mountains yesterday evening.

A total of 15 personnel made up of gardaí and rescuers from Laois and Offaly Civil Defence responded to the incident in the Slieve Blooms on Saturday evening after two people out on a walk had got lost.

Members of both units responded to the call and the missing people were located a short time later and “brought down to safety”.

In a post on social media on Saturday night, Laois Civil Defence said: “This evening, volunteers from Laois and Offaly Civil Defence responded to assist An Garda Síochána Laois/Offaly with locating two people who had got lost on the Slieve Bloom Mountains. 

“15 members from both units responded to the call, and the missing persons were located by CD & AGS a short time later and brought back down to safety,” the post concluded.
