Pedestrian dies following Co Clare collision

A male pedestrian has died after a collision involving a car in Co Clare.

The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday on the N18 at Portdrine between Shannon and Limerick.

Gardai were alerted to the collision around 4am.

The man, aged in his 30s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he later died.

The road was closed following the fatal incident to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Any road users travelling in the area at the time who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, have been asked to make it available to investigating gardai.
