Luxury Volvo and €73k among assets seized during CAB raids in Donegal and Dublin

Financial documents, electronic devices and a luxury Volvo were among assets seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) in during operations in Dublin and Donegal.

Support was provided to CAB officers by Gardaí attached to the Milford District, Donegal Division, the Regional Armed Support Unit, Garda Dog Unit and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB).

The searches were carried out early on Wednesday, May 22 in county Donegal and west Dublin.

Over 70 personnel were involved in 23 searches of dwellings and business premises across Donegal and Dublin West.

Among the items seized or frozen in the course of this Wednesday's operations were a 2023 registered Volvo XC90, electronic devices, financial documents and up to €73,000 in a bank account.

"Today’s searches relate to an ongoing investigation into the assets of persons suspected of being involved in drug trafficking on an international level," a spokesperson for An Garda Síochana said in a statement.

The search operation was conducted as part of an on-going proceeds of crime investigation targeting assets, including real estate, deriving in whole or in part from the proceeds of criminal activity.

"This particular investigation was supported by a number of Good Citizen Reports (GCRs) and also with the assistance of a Divisional Assets Profiler."

The organised criminal gang (OCG) at the heart of this investigation "operates within this jurisdiction as well as Scotland, Spain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)", the garda spokesperson continued.
