Thunderstorms and 'intense' rain in Ireland weather forecast

Met Eireann forecasters have said intense downpours and thunderstorms might be expected again this Tuesday.

Today will be cloudy and misty to start, with isolated showers later on in the day.

"More frequent showers will develop in the early morning, turning heavy in the east, south and midlands this afternoon and evening, with intense downpours and thunderstorms developing and hail possible," said Met Eireann on X. Highs of 15 to 19°C to be expected.

This follows warnings issued last night by the forecaster as thunder and hail battered parts of Ireland - with the orange and yellow alerts being shared.
