Cyclist dies after collision with car in Dublin

A cyclist in his 70s has died after a collision with a car in Dublin.

Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of the crash on Dame Street at approximately 5.25am on Saturday.

Gardai said the collision involved a car and a cyclist.

The cyclist was seriously injured. He was taken to St James’ Hospital where he died.

The driver of the car is receiving medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Dame Street was closed this morning to facilitate a technical examination of the scene. The road has since reopened.

Gardai in Pearse Street are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
