Members of the Dublin Fire Bridgade attended the scene of a large fire in Ballycoolin in north Co Dublin this Tuesday night.

A total of six fire engines, including a turntable ladder and foam tender attended the fire at an industrial unit.

It was noted by a spokesperson by Dublin Fire Brigade that "wind [was] blowing smoke across the locality," and they asked locals to "close windows."

A spokesoerson for An Garda Síochána said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fire at an industrial unit in Ballycoolin , Dublin 15, yesterday evening, Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

"No offenses disclosed."

In a post online, a spokesperson for The Engine Block, a car club and dealership, said:  "We don’t know what to say. Please bear with us over the coming days. Everyone is safe and that’s all that matters."

Those who were acquainted with the business shared their support with the owners via social media. One person said: "Sad for those who lost business and customers who lost their cars."

A mother also added: "Oh god all those cars!! My sons favourite place to go. Feel for the owners."

Another wrote: "Terrible for the engine block, they worked so hard to get open and it seemed to be going so well. Hope the fire hasn’t spread outside the workshop."

One who knew the effort put into the business shared: "Disaster! The engine block! Hope nobody was there but if they were, maybe got some cars out. Disaster for the Irish car scene as it’s only recently opened after years of hard work."
