A plane with passengers had to make an emergency land in Shannon Airport after reporting an engine problem.
The aircraft, travelling from London Heathrow to New York JFK, had to make an unexpected diversion to Co Clare this Saturday morning, March 30, at approximately 10:50am.
The Jet Blue Airways flight JBU2220, was over the Atlantic when one of its two engines suffered a ‘compressor stall’, which caused the crew to declare an emergency and shut down the affected engine.
“Emergency procedures were put in place on the ground at Shannon, with the airport's Fire and Rescue service along with Clare County Council Fire Service, Health Service Executive Ambulances and An Garda Siochána mobilised as part of the emergency activation plan for the airport,” a spokesperson from Shannon Airport said.
Emergency procedures were put in place on the ground at Shannon. Engineers inspected the plane. It is believed that a replacement aircraft will be sent to take the passengers onto their final destination.
