Gardaí have detained a car in Cork after stopping a motorist for using their mobile phone while driving.
On inspection, the vehicle also triggered the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system for lacking insurance.
The car was subsequently seized, and the driver was issued a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN) for phone usage and will face court.
This procedure is part of Cork city's St Patrick's Bank Holiday Weekend Road Safety Enforcement Operation.
Gardaí are reminding all drivers to drive safely this weekend, obey speed limits, wear seatbelts, and refrain from using phones or driving under the influence.
