Catherine Martin contradicts RTÉ Board claim over exit package of former CFO

Catherine Martin will face questions from the Oireachatas committee this evening over the resignation of the chair of the RTÉ Board, Siún Ní Raghallaigh.

Ms Siún Ní Raghallaigh resigned on Friday after the media minister, Catherine Martin, failed to express confidence in her during an interview on Prime Time last Thursday.

Later today, the Oireachatas committee will hold a three-hour meeting to examine the controversy.

The media minister said she was given incorrect information last week after asking Siún Ní Raghallaigh about the exit payment of the former chief financial officer, Richard Collins.

However, the former chair of the RTE Board confirmed it was only a matter of confusion and said she informed the former secretary general of the Department of Media last October.
