Ireland West Airport in Knock has announced the arrival of Ryanair's most extensive summer schedule ever, featuring a brand new service.
The return of the Tenerife service marks a pivotal moment for the airport, restoring weekly flights to this beloved sun destination for the first time since 2019.
Ryanair will operate an impressive 32 weekly flights with 170,000 seats available, connecting Ireland West Airport to European hotspots such as Alicante, Barcelona, Cologne, Faro, Lanzarote, Majorca, Malaga, Milan, and the newly introduced Tenerife service.
The airline is also set to increase frequency on services to Faro and extend operations to Barcelona from April to October. This 2024 summer schedule represents a 5% increase compared to the previous year.
In addition to the European destinations, Ryanair will offer flights to eight different UK airports, further expanding connectivity. Birmingham, Bristol, East-Midlands (Nottingham), Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool, London Luton, and London Stansted are all part of the summer itinerary.
The installation of a new next-generation cabin baggage screening system, which is now fully operational at the airport, is set to further enhance the passenger experience at the airport. Fully operational, this new system eliminates the need for passengers to remove laptops and liquids from their cabin bags, streamlining queue times and simplifying the security process.
The cutting-edge screening machines allow liquids, gels, aerosols, creams, pastes, baby food, medicines, and special dietary products to remain packed in hand luggage. The previous restriction on liquids exceeding 100ml no longer applies, enabling passengers to travel with larger quantities if they fit into a cabin bag.
Joe Gilmore, Managing Director of Ireland West Airport, expressed his delight, saying: "This summer will be the busiest one on record for sun destinations, and the choice on offer for customers in the West, Northwest, and Midlands regions has never been better."
