Gardaí are on high alert this bank holiday weekend, as they successfully apprehended a speeding driver who was also disqualified and tested positive for cannabis.
The incident unfolded in Mitchelstown when Gardaí noticed a car exceeding the speed limit, clocking in at a staggering 145km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Quick to respond, the Gardaí pulled over the vehicle to address the violation of traffic regulations.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the driver behind the wheel was not only exceeding the speed limit but was also driving while disqualified with the presence of cannabis in their system.
A Garda spokesperson has said: "They now face court.
"This bank holiday weekend we ask all road users to look out for one another and arrive safely at your destination."
