Man arrested in connection with human trafficking in Rosslare released without charge

The man that was arrested on Wednesday, January 17, was released today

The man, (30s) arrested on Wednesday, January 17 in connection with the discovery of the 14 individuals concealed in a shipping container at Rosslare Europort on January 8, has been released without charge.

A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

He was arrested yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, January 17 at Rosslare for an alleged offence under the Criminal Justice (Smuggling of Persons) Act, 2021, and was detained at a garda station in the southeast of the country under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The investigation is ongoing.
