TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of a farmer on a county Limerick farm on Tuesday afternoon.
Thomas (Tom) Childs from Kilscanlon, Galbally, passed away following a suspected accident at his farm.
A garda spokesperson confirmed that the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are investigating the death.
Mr Childs will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Eleanor (née Hennessy, Mitchelstown) and his much-loved children Elaine and Melissa.
He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, brother Richie, sisters Ann (Allen) Betty (Taylor) Catherine (Fitzgibbon) Emma (Richardson) Rita (Walsh) and Veronica (Childs) Elaine's boyfriend Shane brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces relatives, neighbours and his many friends.
A number of tributes were paid to Mr Childs and his family on the condolences website, RIP.ie.
“Eleanor, Elaine and Melissa, The Childs and Hennessy Families. Our sincerest sympathies to you all at this very sad time. We had some great memories and had great laughs with Tom here in Glencush through the years. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all,” read one message of condolence.
Another described Mr Child as a “true gent who never failed to make us laugh.”
A third added: “Rita and the Child's family, we are so very sorry to hear of Tom's untimely passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. May Tom Rest In Peace.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
