National: Motorist hospitalised after car ends up in field after accident

A motorist was hospitalised after a car towing a trailer ended up in a field after an accident in the Midlands.

Gardai are appealing for information in relation to a serious car accident in Laois on Tuesday.

The air ambulance attended the scene of the accident near Abbeyleix after a car towing a trailer ended up in a field as a result of the crash. 

“Abbeyleix Gardai were at the scene of a road traffic collision on R445 at Ballaghmore, where a trailer that was being towed collided with a vehicle travelling behind it,” Garda explained. 

“One driver was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries,” they said. 

“Thanks to Roscrea Fire Station -Tipperary Fire & Rescue Service and Laois County Fire and Rescue Service - Rathdowney Fire Station for the assistance and to the local community in Ballaghmore for helping clear the road,” Gardai said. 

“We are appealing for any witnesses and anyone who may have dashcam footage, that was driving between Roscrea and Borris In Ossory today between 11.45am and 12.30pm, to contact us at Abbeyleix Garda Station on 057 8730580,” Gardai stated.
