National: Gardaí catch boy (13) driving and are shocked by identity of his passengers
Gardaí in Waterford were shocked this week when they stopped a "strikingly young" driver.
While on routine patrol late Thursday afternoon, gardaí in Waterford passed a car and remarked to one another about how "strikingly young looking the driver appeared to be and decided to stop the car," a statement read.
Gardaí then discovered that the driver was just 13 years of age but they were even more surprised to learn the identity of his two passengers.
"The two passengers in the car were the boy's parents," gardaí confirmed. They told gardaí that they were "just out for a spin."
"As per current legislation, the owner of the vehicle will be brought before the courts and a Garda Juvenile Liaison Officer has been appointed to the boy," gardaí concluded.
They implored people to have "a bit of cop on."
