Man dies, second injured in Christmas Eve shooting at Dublin restaurant

A MAN has died following a shooting incident at a packed restaurant in Dublin this Christmas Eve.

A major garda investigation has been launched following the incident that occurred at restaurant at Main Street in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 at around 8pm on Sunday.
 
"Two males were taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital to receive medical treatment. One of these males, aged in his 20s, was pronounced deceased in hospital a short time afterwards," confirmed a garda spokesperson.
 
A second man, aged in his 40s, is receiving treatment for gunshot wounds and is in a serious condition.
 
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.

While gardai have not confirmed any further details, it's understood a firearm has been recovered at the scene.
