Hundreds of night light products sold in Tesco stores across Ireland have been recalled due to safety fears.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) published the notice for the Nuby UK Penguin Colour Change Night Light L-Shaped USB-C Cable.
According to the CCPC, the risk associated with the product is that of electric shock as there is a potential weak point at the bend in the cable head.
"It is possible that if the cable is pulled out incorrectly by gripping the wire rather than the L-shaped head, over time damage may occur to the internal wiring and potentially result in a short which could result in the user receiving an electric shock."
The product was sold in Tesco and there are approximately 602 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
The brand is Nuby UK. The model number is 99616. The batch numbers are S3B25W, S3D15W, S3I10W, S3L10W, S3C05X. The bar code is 048526991612.
Consumers should be advised this replacement only relates to the L-Shape USB-C cable, the night light itself is not affected.
Customers are being urged to stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.
Customers can contact Nuby customer services and request a free replacement cable by emailing enquiries@nuby-uk.co or by contacting the Nuby Helpline at 0044 800 334 5844.
Alternatively, consumers may return their product to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given, no receipt is required.
