There could be severe wind gusts
A warning has been issued that the recovery phase after Storm Debi could be the most "dangerous".
The National Director of Fire and Emergency Management has said that the recovery phase of Storm Debi is "probably the most dangerous part of the storm".
Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland earlier on Monday, Keith Leonard said that people tend to "do a damage assessment", particularly working at heights and on ladders to have a look at roofs and this is when greatest care is needed.
"So we just caution people to be very careful when they're going out today to assess the damage," Mr Leonard said.
"I would advise people to be very careful for the rest of the day."
People should be very aware of local conditions, Mr Leonard advised, as storms are not uniform events and the impacts could go on for a good part of the day.
Met Éireann has predicted that it will be stormy in many areas this morning as Storm Debi continues to track northeastwards over the country. Severe and damaging wind gusts are expected leading to some disruption.
Heavy rain will become confined to Ulster during the morning with sunny spells and showers following to other areas.
There is a continued possibility of flooding in the west and north. Maximum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees are forecast for Monday with strong to gale force west or southwest winds, decreasing fresh later in the day.
