National: Holly Willoughby resigns from ITV's This Morning

Holly Willoughby

AFTER 14 years, Holly Willoughby has announced her resignation from ITV’s This Morning.

The TV presenter is quitting ITV altogether, having told them she “will not be returning”.

In a post on Instagram, she said: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.”

She continues on by thanking “everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years”, “every guest who has sat on our sofa” and the “wonderful viewers”.

Branding her resignation as “such a difficult goodbye”, Holly concluded the post by saying: "I will miss you all so much”.

The 42 year old was absent from the popular morning programme after a 36-year-old man was arrested and charged, having threatened to kidnap Holly.

Giving her reason for leaving as being a ‘family decision’, Holly, who announced the news in a statement to 8.4m followers, will not present a parting episode.

The news comes after Holly’s colleague and close friend, Phillip Schofield, quit the show in May after admitting he had had an illicit affair with a junior colleague on the ITV show.
