THE driver of a car which was stopped while travelling at high speed is facing several criminal charges arising from the incident.
The blue Volkswagen car, which was clocked at 140km/h in a 100mk/h zone, was seized following the incident which happed in Naas, County Kildare earlier this week.
Gardai say the driver, who was disqualified and allegedly five times over the legal alcohol limit, was arrested and is due before the district court.
Highlighting the incident on social media, they confirmed the detection was made by members of the Naas Roads Policing Unit who were carrying out routine speed checks.
"They found this car travelling at 140kph in a 100kph area. They were stopped and the driver was determined to have been disqualified and they were found to be 5 times over the legal limit," states the post.
If convicted, the driver faces a possible prison sentence and a further disqualification.
