Drivers are enduring delays on the M50 this afternoon after an eight-car crash on the busy Dublin motorway.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene on the northbound lane on the M50 near Junction 10, Ballymount, Dublin, today at around 12pm.

The incident occurred in heavy rain with driving conditions reported to be very difficult across the country. The slip road at Ballymount was closed for a number of hours but has since reopened, gardaí have said.

Gardaí and Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene. The accident has now been cleared and traffic is moving ahead of rush hour this evening.

Gardaí have confirmed there were no reports of serious injuries.
