Separate investigations are underway following the fatal incidents
SEPARATE investigations are underway following three fatal collisions across the country in less than 12 hours.
In the most recent incident, gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the a incident on the R517 at Moygaddy, County Meath at around 4pm on Wednesday.
The collision involved a car and a tractor and the driver of the car, a man in his 50s, received fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The man was the third person to die on Irish road in less than 12 hours - another man died in a fatal incident on the M6 motorway near Athenry, Galway during the early hours of Wednesday while the third fatality occurred on the N5 at Cloonfree, Strokestown, County Roscommon at around 2.40pm.
Gardai investigating the incident in County Meath say a technical examination was completed on Wednesday evening and the road has since re-opened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or who may have video footage, to contact them.
