Teenager arrested in Ongar murder probe

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following an incident in the Ongar area of Dublin.

A man aged in his 40s was taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, after being assaulted on Tuesday evening but he was pronounced dead.

The deceased has been named as Aaron Keating.

The teenager is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in west Dublin.

The Garda investigation remains ongoing and an incident room has been established at Blanchardstown Garda station under the direction of a senior investigating officer.

A family liaison officer has been appointed to the man’s family.

A post-mortem examination is being carried out by the State pathologist.

Gardai are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the alleged assault to come forward, and anyone with video footage – including from a dashcam – is asked to make this available to them.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street, Ongar, on Tuesday between 6.30pm and 7pm is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
