The winner will gain widespread exposure for their design, it will feature on T-shirts and they will win €500 in cash.
Artists are asked to design a poster for either Newcastle West or the city featuring venues, acts and performers.
For Newcastle West the venues include; Cleary's Bar, Longcourt House Hotel, O’Sullivans Pharmacy, Brown Morell Restaurant, the Church, the Market House and Colin Byrne Accountants.
For Riverfest in the city, venues include; O’Mahonys Bookshop, Savins Music, The Commercial Bar, Limerick City Art Gallery, Steamboat Music, Penny Lane Arcade, and Dolans Upstairs/Warehouse.
Acts performing at both trails include: Oonagh McMahon, M50 Indian band, Felann, Kila, Robert Dawson, Laura Duff, Speakeasy Sunday band and there will also be a pied piper/trumpet player playing music on the streets between venues.
The Newcastle West Music Trail takes place on Saturday, April 18 with the Riverfest Music Trail on Friday, May 1.
Emmet Scanlan has this advice for people entering: “The main aim of the poster is to give the feeling of music, the festival, Newcastle West or the city and art. It’s important for you to put your own style on it.”
He added that it should be an interpretation and representation of what art and music mean to the artist.
Artists should also allow some space on the poster for some text to be overlaid for the festival name.
The deadline for entries is Tuesday, March 3 and entries or queries on guidelines can be sent to info@emmetscanlan.com or Emmet can be contacted on 083 0283321.
