Mik Pyro formerly of Republic of Loose will perform in Newcastle West
THE ICONIC former frontman of the multi-platinum Republic of Loose, Mik Pyro, is back touring once again and Cleary’s of Newcastle West are going to host to his 6-piece band of magnetic funk soul.
Having fundamentally shifted the landscape of Irish music in the 2000s, Pyro’s 2023 debut solo album, Exit Pyro, was hailed by The Irish Times as one of the albums of the year.

The momentum continued into 2026 with the announcement of Pyro’s sophomore solo album, recorded with Mercury Prize nominee Ed Harcourt.
Music enthusiasts that frequent Cleary’s are in for a treat, as Tom Coll of Fontaines D.C. recently described Mik’s live performances as “an absolute masterclass of how to actually perform live.”
Mik’s performance at Cleary’s on Thursday, February 19 promises to be a celebratory showcase of a true original at the peak of his powers, featuring career-spanning favorites and the debut of brand-new material.
Tony Clayton Lee of The Irish Times has described Mik Pyro's performance as being “heroically uncompromising, one of the Irish albums of the year.”
Steve Cummins of Sunday Business Post said that Mik Pryo's return to touring is: “Glorious, blistering, celebratory.”
Stuart Clarke of Hot Press has high praise for Pyro's new album Exit Pyro: “A really, really good record. It really is fabulous.”
