The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain - a group of all-singing, all-strumming Ukulele players (the clue is in the title) come to the University Concert Hall for a gig on Friday, July 26 at 8pm.

A concert by the Ukulele Orchestra is billed as a “funny, virtuosic, twanging, awesome, foot-stomping obituary of rock-n-roll and melodious light entertainment featuring only the “bonsai guitar” and a menagerie of voices in a collision of post-punk performance and toe-tapping oldies”. Phew.

Starting out as a bit of fun in 1985, the orchestra has gone on to play thousands of gigs, while collaborators include Madness, The Kaiser Chiefs and The Ministry of Sound.
