Munster Rugby issue squad injury update ahead of crucial Ospreys URC clash

THE Munster Rugby squad have started preparations at their High Performance Centre at UL ahead of Saturday’s URC Round 7 clash against Ospreys at Dunraven Brewery Field, 5.30pm, live on Premier Sports.

Following Saturday’s bonus-point win over Gloucester in the Investec Champions Cup at Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Munster report that hooker Diarmuid Barron failed a post-match HIA and will begin return to play protocols.

There is good news on the injury front for Limerick winger Calvin Nash (shoulder) and Cork's Fineen Wycherley (hand) as they both return to full training this week.

Munster 'A' are also in action this week as they take on Leinster A at Rockwell College in the Interprovincial Series on Friday (1.30pm). The game will be streamed live on Access Munster. 

Both the Munster and Munster 'A' team announcements will be made on Thursday.

Following the weekend’s Energia AIL action, there have now been 148 club appearances for senior and Academy players so far this season in the AIL and Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup.

Eleven Munster players lined out for their clubs in the energia All-Ireland League on Saturday.

Kieran Ryan and Fionn Gibbons were among the tries for Young Munster as they beat Nenagh Ormond in their Munster derby at Tom Clifford Park. Shay McCarthy and Jake O’Riordan were also in action for the Cookies.

Dylan Hicks kicked three conversions for Cork Constitution with Michael Foy and Danny Sheahan also playing their part in a victory away to UCD.

Tom Wood scored a try and kicked two conversions for Garryowen as they were beaten by Highfield in another Munster derby as Diarmuid Kilgallen also featured for Garryowen.

Seán Edogbo was a try-scorer for UCC with Gene O’Leary Kareem starting for College in their victory away to Naas.
