Munster Rugby issue squad injury update ahead of home Bath friendly

THE Munster Rugby squad is preparing at the High Performance Centre at UL ahead of Friday’s home pre-season game against Premiership champions Bath at Virgin Media Park, in Cork, 7pm.

Sone 39 Munster players were in action at the weekend as a 31-man squad faced Gloucester with eight players in Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup action for their clubs.

Preparations for the new season stepped up at Kingsholm and there was good news on the injury front with no concerns for the 31 players who featured in Clayton McMillan’s first game as Head Coach.

In a further boost, Shane Daly, Jeremy Loughman, Ethan Coughlan, Oli Jager and Lee Barron all made successful returns from injury in the clash.

With almost three weeks until the URC campaign kicks off away to Scarlets, the following players are increasing their training load and beginning to reintegrate to team training: Jean Kleyn (knee), Diarmuid Barron (shoulder), Edwin Edogbo (back) and Roman Salanoa (knee).

There were eight Munster players in action for the clubs at the weekend in the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup.

Senior players Conor Bartley, Fionn Gibbons and Academy scrum-half Jake O’Riordan featured for Young Munster as they defeated Clonmel RFC.

Academy out-half Dylan Hicks and hooker Danny Sheahan were in action for Cork Constitution, with Hicks making his debut for the club, as they beat Dolphin RFC.

Academy centre Gordon Wood and prop Ronan Foxe helped Garryowen to victory away to Old Crescent.

Darragh McSweeney made his debut for current holders Nenagh Ormond as they beat UL Bohemian.
