Motorist positive for cocaine put off the road at Limerick court

A DRIVER was found to have taken cocaine after he was stopped by gardai in Newcastle West.
Bruno Pilav, aged 25, of Cluain Arra, Newcastle West pleaded guilty at the local court to drug driving.
Garda Errol Flynn gave evidence of stopping the accused at Sheahan’s Road, Newcastle West on December 16, 2022.
Garda Flynn said he performed a roadside test which Mr Pilav failed. He was conveyed to a garda station where a blood sample later showed the presence of cocaine, said the investigating garda.
Michael O’Donnell, solicitor for Mr Pilav, put it to Garda Flynn that his client co-operated fully. Garda Flynn agreed that he had.
Mr O’Donnell asked for the driving ban to be postponed until July.
“He is working in Dromcollogher and goes to college in Sligo,” said Mr O’Donnell.
Judge Carol Anne Coolican disqualified Mr Pilav from driving for one year and fined him €500.
