Rail delays caused by driver of vehicle who hit level crossing barriers in Limerick

LIMERICK rail passengers were delayed for around an hour this Tuesday after the driver of a vehicle hit a level crossing.

Irish Rail, in a post on social media, said the 8.55am service from Limerick city to Heuston Station was stopped between Colbert Station and Limerick Junction.

“The train was delayed after a vehicle hit the level crossing barriers in Dromkeen,” said an Irish Rail spokesperson.

A crew quickly responded and commenced working on the level crossing to allow the train to pass. After a delay of some 50 minutes the train began moving after workers had resolved the issue.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Irish Rail have been contacted for comment, regarding the circumstances of the incident and the extent of the damage to the level crossing barriers.
