Three hospitalised after car bursts into flames in Limerick collision

The stretch of the N69 between Tarbert and Glin was closed for a number of hours

TWO men and a woman were rushed to a hospital after a car burst into flames following a two-vehicle collision in Limerick.

Gardai, firefighters from Newcastle West and Foynes, and paramedics with the National Ambulance Service all rushed to the scene on the N69 near Glin shortly before 8pm on Sunday night.

A garda spokesperson said a woman, aged in her 20s, was brought to University Hospital Limerick to be treated for injuries which "are believed to be non life-threatening at this time".

“One man, aged in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries believed to be non life-threatening.

“A second man, aged in his 50s, was taken to University Hospital Kerry to be treated for injuries which are believed to be non life-threatening,” said the garda spokesperson.

Firefighters put out the car ablaze and remained at the scene until after 11pm. The road was closed for a number of hours.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them.

“Any road users or pedestrians who were in the area between 7.45pm and 8.15pm and have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Newcastle West garda station on (069) 20650 the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station,” said the garda spokesperson.
