National Broadband Ireland have confirmed more than 800 new high-speed fibre broadband connections in Limerick for Newcastle West
AS OF now, a further 800 premises in the Newcastle West area will be able to avail of a high-speed broadband connection.
This brings the total number of premises in County Limerick with faster internet to 22,000.
National Broadband Ireland has now connected more premises to high-speed fibre broadband.
These new connections include rural surrounds and townlands of Glensharrold, Fleanmore, Loghill and Kilmoylan.
Works have already been completed in much of the rural areas across the county including Abbeyfeale and Newport.
TJ Malone, chief executive officer with National Broadband Ireland, said: “We are delighted to announce that an additional 800 Limerick homes, businesses and farms near Newcastle West can now connect to NBI’s high-speed fibre broadband infrastructure.
“Those connected are experiencing the life-changing benefits of high-speed fibre broadband with minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second.
“With the national switch-off of the copper network approaching, NBI’s fibre network will ensure communities across Ireland are prepared for the future by supporting remote working, education, healthcare access, and local enterprise while providing the reliability needed for everyday living.”
As part of the biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification, County Limerick will receive €84 million of Government investment under the national plan.
National Broadband Ireland is encouraging all Limerick residents to visit nbi.ie and check their Eircode to see if they’re ready to connect and find out more about placing an order.
