GARDAI arrested a man in his 50s this Wednesday evening after he graffitied a wall on Roches Row, Limerick city.

The man was arrested at approximately 5:30pm by Community Policing gardaí on patrol, following a foot pursuit.

An Instagram post by @gardainsta_limerick said,  “A reminder that while we appreciate art in all its forms, the act of putting graffiti on property not belonging to you is an offence under the Criminal Damage Act. #KeepingPeopleSafe”

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that the man was released from Henry Street Garda Station without charge, but confirmed that “Investigations are ongoing”.

This incident occurred the day before Body Worn Cameras were implemented for gardaí in Henry Street Garda Station.

Speaking at the launch of the second phase of this pilot scheme, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee said she was “very pleased” that the technology was now available for frontline gardaí in Limerick city.
