A WOMAN has died following a serious road collision in County Limerick this evening.
The multi-vehicle collision happened shortly before 6.30pm on the N21 near between Newcastle West and Rathkeale.
A woman - believed to be aged in her 50s - was pronounced dead at the scene while a number of other people were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. None are believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services including gardai, ambulance personnel and three units of the Limerick City and County Fire Service attended the scene and part of the road remains closed and diversions are in place.
According to AA Roadwatch traffic coming from Kerry is being diverted via Lacey’s Cross while those travelling from Limerick are being diverted via Reen’s Pike.
Investigations are continuing and no other details are available
