The make-up of the new Limerick City and County Council has been finalised following an historic election and marathon three-day count at the UL Arena.
More than 72,000 people across Limerick went to the polls on Friday to elect 40 councillors to the new local authority across six electoral areas.
Cllr Brigid Teefy (Ind) was the first person to be elected on Saturday evening while the final candidate to be elected was Ciara McMahon (SF) on Monday afternoon.
Limerick City and County manager, Conn Murray, has welcomed each of the newly elected members to the local authority.
“A new political structure has now been created representing an historic change for local government in Limerick,” he said.
“I look forward to working with all the new councillors, it’s fantastic to see the mixture of youth and experience that has emerged which is clearly representative of the voice of Limerick. This fusion of energy and knowledge presents an exciting opportunity for the years ahead which will undoubtedly be challenging,” he added.
The first meeting of the new joint authority will take place on Friday, June 6.
