GARDAI are investigating the discovery of two pipe-bombs on the outskirts of Limerick city last night.
The alarm was raised at around 10pm when the suspicious devices were found by a member of the public at a side road near the entrance to a halting site on the Dublin Road.
Following the discovery, the area was sealed off pending the arrival of the Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit from Collins Barracks in Cork.
The devices, which were declared viable, were made safe and handed over to gardai after midnight.
Gardai at Henry Street garda station are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
No arrests have been made.
