A Newcastle West man has appeared in court charged with breaching the first exclusion order ever handed down in County Limerick.

John Ryan, 31, of 17 Sharwood, Newcastle West is accused of breaching an order barring him from the Sharwood and Castleview estates on April 11.

In December Mr Ryan was one of three men who received the first ever exclusion orders handed down by Limerick County Council.

He, his 20-year-old brother Dermot Ryan and 29-year-old Thomas McCarthy were all forbidden from entering either Castleview or Sharwood for a period of three years.

At Newcastle West District Court last Friday Mr Ryan was remanded in custody until April 26.
