CONGRATULATIONS go to Monique Danaher, who was the lucky winner of the overall prize in the ‘Buy Up the City’ shopping campaign.

Monique walks away with the magnificent prize of €5,000 in shopping vouchers after receiving her coupons from Bella Italia Bistro on Thomas Street, the Cornstore restaurant on Thomas Street and The River hairdressing on the Dock Road.

She was the last weekly winner in the Buy up the City campaign, which was run by the Limerick Leader in conjunction with city centre retailers, after being picked at random from the hundreds of people who entered the draw.

A Farranshone native, Monique was “still pinching herself” when the Limerick Leader caught up with her to talk about her wonderful win.

“I can’t believe it. Limerick is a beautiful city and this is a fantastic initiative.

“I don’t really have any plans for the vouchers at the moment but I’m sure my children will be looking for any games shops they can spend them in!”

Monique saved some special praise for her daughter Aisling, who provided her with constant reminders to claim her coupons when shopping.

Psychotherapist Monique, runs the Limerick Psychotherapy Centre on Hartstonge Street, where she treats teenagers and adults for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties and low self esteem.

The scheme – which ran for the month of August – proved popular among city retailers and customers alike, with stores often running out of coupons due to the huge demand.
