A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital after a fall near Glin pier this Sunday afternoon.

The woman, understood to be middle aged, was walking in the area and slipped on moss, sustaining a broken hip, it's understood.

An army chopper was called to the scene, where a paramedic gave treatment to the woman - believed to be of South African origin - for around 15 minutes in the back of ambulance which was also on-site.

The woman - who is not local to the Glin area - was then taken from the ambulance, holding a respirator in place herself.
