ENTREPRENEURS returning home to Ireland after a spell abroad are being advised of a new programme to help them start and develop businesses.
Back for Business, a free Government-led scheme is now open to applications.
Funded by the Irish Abroad unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, it was created to support entrepreneurial activity among people recently back in Ireland, or considering a return.

To qualify, applicants must be returned Irish emigrants who have lived abroad for at least one year, and been back in Ireland in the last three years.
Alternatively, candidates can be living abroad, but with plans to return home in the near future.
The ninth year the programme has taken place, those eligible have until Friday, January 16 to apply for one of the 50 places available.
The programme will begin with a Launch Forum and round table event on Friday, February 13, 2026, and will conclude in June.
It’s anticipated those on the programme will meet once a month for a discussion, facilitated by lead entrepreneurs who have experience of starting and growing a business.
A number of Limerick business people have taken part, including Reidin Magner of bag design firm byReidin.
She said: “Being given the opportunity to participate in the Back for Business programme provided me with the tools, insights, and confidence to successfully build my business. The expert guidance and supportive environment were invaluable in providing me with practical ideas to focus on the important areas. Meeting like-minded business people with start-up businesses also was very informative as shared experiences provided answers to many queries we all had.”
