‘National Day of Mourning’: Fans devastated as Paudie is banished from the castle

The latest episode of The Traitors Ireland saw fan favorite and Limerick native Traitor Paudie be banished from the castle ahead of the final week

The latest episode of The Traitors Ireland saw Ireland’s favourite hug hating grumpy Limerick ‘daddy’ Traitor Paudie be banished from the castle following one of the most heated round tables yet.

With the Faithfuls split over whether Paudie or Vanessa seemed more suspicious, Traitors Paudie and newly recruited Nick ended up, as Oyin would say, in 'a fight between Traitors', turning on each other in a ruthless display of betrayal.

But ultimately it was Paudie who received the most votes and was the last original Traitor to be voted out of the game.

The episode was left on the cliffhanger of who Nick will blackmail to join him in the conclave, will he bring his bromance with Ben to the dark side or will he select a Faithful already under fire as his sacrificial pawn.

The banishment was a sombre ending to a quirky episode that featured the recreation of a famine funeral, seeing Faithfuls Christine, Ben and Faye housed in three open coffins.

It is ultimately Christine who had the coffin lid placed over her, following the piseog (Irish curse) that Nick had placed on her by means of a goodbye hug the night before.

After their return from Christine’s murder, Ben now believes Faye is a Faithful, having previously suspected her, due to her crying as they waited in the coffins.

Others are unconvinced, suggesting that she is looking for sympathy votes, with Faye quipping: “I’m having a panic attack, you think it’s an act, I don’t think I need to explain myself in a coffin.”

At the roundtable Vanessa declared Paudie as her prime suspicion of being a Traitor, with Nick, Oyin, and Ben all in agreeing with her.

Paudie was then banished revealing the bigger bombshell that the previously eliminated Traitor, Andrew, was his son.

The Traitors Ireland returns to RTE One and the RTE Player on Sunday September 21 at 9:30 pm as it enters into its final week.

Will the Traitors steal it all or will the Faithfuls get to share he prize pot? Fans will have to wait until the final episode on Tuesday September 23 at 9:35 pm to find out
