University Concert Hall will play host to the performance
THE UNIVERSITY of Limerick Orchestra will next week play a summer concert to mark the 100th anniversary of the first performance of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.
It takes place on Saturday, May 11, from 7.30pm.
Led by conductor Michael Dooley, the orchestra will play a programme which celebrates the essence of American culture.
They will be joined on stage by Limerick City Big Band under the direction of Andrew Jordan.

In addition to Gershwin's masterpiece, the orchestra will play Antonin Dvorak's 'American Suite' and Gershwin's beloved 'An American in Paris.'

Limerick City Big Band plan to reignite timeless classics from the likes of Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra, among others.
Tickets for the summer prom concert are now on sale from €15 and can be purchased through the University Concert Hall box office at 061-331549.
