Limerink: Limerick City in Words and Pictures was launched in the Belltable
AUTHOR Hugh McMahon has launched his new comic book - one inspired by the humour of his city.
Hugh’s new book, Limerink: Limerick City in Words and Pictures, documents the life and culture of Limerick city through a 48-page hand drawn comic book.
Two years in the making, the book is the fifth instalment in a series of comic books inspired by the author’s hometown.
It follows on from previous publications Limerick Folktales (2010), Limerick Slang (2016), Tall Tales from Limerick City (2017) and Three Bridges (2021).
Several familiar Limerick landmarks and street scenes feature including the pubs, bridges, churches bridges, sports fields and markets.
The comic is full of cartoons and illustrations documenting the colourful speech, sayings and proverbs heard every day, all over the city.
Sport, fashion, food, work, family, religion, weather, money and love are all explored in words and pictures throughout the comic book.
Limerink, the comic book, shows all the good and the bad of human nature, and everyday life in the city.
