Man arrested over incident in Limerick's O'Connell Street

A man in his 30s is being detained at a garda station in Limerick

A MAN has been arrested after a violent disorder incident in Limerick's O'Connell Street which left two men in hospital.

Gardai have kicked off an investigation over the disturbance which saw an area of the main thoroughfare cordoned off on Friday night, and crime scene investigators in attendance.

The male, aged in his 30s, is being detained at a garda station in Limerick city under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Two men received non-life threatening injuries during the course of the incident, which took place at approximately 9.40pm, and attended University Hospital Limerick.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident and to any persons with video footage to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212400, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station across the State.
