There were celebrations at the Castletroy Park Hotel on Saturday night as Dawn Ryan was selected as the 2014 Limerick Rose.
The 21-year-old from Meelick, who works as a care worker at Enable Ireland in Mungret, will now go on to represent Limerick at the regional finals, which take place in Portlaoise over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
Dawn, whose triplet brothers Evan, Gavin and Darren, play rugby with Young Munster, is aiming to become the first Limerick Rose to make it to Tralee since Melanie Carroll in 2007.
“I’m thrilled, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and dreamed of when I was a little girl,” said Dawn.
“It’s been an amazing few weeks and I’m just letting it all sink in and I’m trying to digest it all”.
