A MAN is being questioned about the seizure of a substantial amount of cocaine at a house in Shannon.
The drugs, which have an estimated street value of €20,000, were seized during a planned operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Shannon area.
A small amount of cannabis herb was also seized when the house at Finian Park, was searched late last night,
A garda spokesperson said a 40 year old male was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Shannon garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.
He can be held for a maximum of seven days without being charged.
Separately, a woman who was being questioned in connection with a drugs seizure on the southside of Limerick city has been released without charge.
Cannabis Resin, with a street value of around €18,000, was discovered when gardai attached to the drugs unit at Roxboro Road garda station searched a house in the Kennedy Park area on Monday night.
A woman, in her 30’s, who lives at the address where the drugs were seized, was released without charge late last night.
Investigating gardai say a file is being prepared for the Director of public Prosecutions.
