Woman rescued from river Shannon near Limerick city centre

A WOMAN was rescued from the river Shannon after she was seen entering the water in the early hours of this morning.

A WOMAN was rescued from the river Shannon after she was seen entering the water in the early hours of this morning.

The alarm was raised at around 1.40am when the woman, who is aged in her later 20s was seen entering the water near Sarsfield Bridge. Gardai, ambulance personnell and members of the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue attended the scene and the woman was removed from the water a short time later.

She was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital but it is understood she was not seriously injured.
