CHILDREN across Limerick woke up this Christmas morning to find presents from Santa Claus who visited the Mid West at around 3am.

There were confirmed sightings of Santa's reindeer and sleigh in the night sky over Abbeyfeale, Newcastle West, Kilmallock and Bruff.

It's understood he reached Limerick city at around 3.12am with a bag full of toys for good boys and girls.

The wintry weather in Limerick made for ideal travelling conditions for Santa and his reindeer who are used to the snow and frost of the North Pole.

The Press Office in the North Pole confirmed to the Limerick Leader that Santa returned after a successful trip around the world shortly before 9am this Christmas morning.

The Limerick Leader would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas.
